The ZBA makes decisions regarding variances to the zoning ordinance and special exception uses as set forth in the zoning ordinance. The minutes of the meetings are public record and are kept at the offices of the Metropolitan Planning Commission (MPC). Whereas the decisions of the MPC require adoption by the City Council or Parish Commission, the decisions of the ZBA are final if there is no appeal filed within 10 days of their decision.

MEMBERS

The Zoning Board of Appeals (ZBA) is comprised of seven appointed board members, with each member serving a five-year term. These members, like the members of the commission, are average citizens and do not receive compensation for their time and efforts. The Metropolitan Planning Commission staff also provides staff assistance to the ZBA members.
